A Page About Me on Mother's Day

Hello scraplings!!!

Something none of us do often enough is scrap ourselves....We are always behind the scenes, the "mammarazzi" if you will, ensuring we capture every moment for us to preserve for our children, grandchildren, and so on....

I cut my hair recently.  It was about halfway down my back, and I got it chopped off at the shoulders....saving on shampoo and conditioner now :D

I took this photo with my iPhone, to send a picture to my husband who had been away for a while, and was a few weeks away from returning home.....

I don't like myself in pictures, so when I do find one that is semi-decent...I scrap it :D

I loved the paper as it is a very "me" paper, the colors are just up my street, it is a travel paper, which is something I love, but I do not do enough of....and the camera...well... what can I say...I'm a scraper.....

Once again, I dug into the depths of my stash and found a J bookmark which my kids bought for me for Mother's Day, YEARS ago!!!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of you out there....we are doing one of the most important jobs around!!!  We deserve a day of tea and toast in bed :D:D

A True Angel

A little while ago, my daughter went to a Super Model party.  It is really cute.  The girls all get a champagne glass of fizzy grape juice when they arrive which really makes them super special. After rehearsals, hair and make-up which is all done "behind the scenes", the mums are invited into the studio, where we are treated to a fabulous fashion show, with each girl modeling two looks, dress up and swim suit.  The whole show is photographed and the party organizers take fabulous professional photographs which are available to purchase a couple of days after the party!!!!

When I saw this photo of my daughter, I was totally blown away....I couldn't get into my craft room quick enough to create a page :D

I used paper which I have had for a VERY long time for the background.  I was waiting for the perfect photo for paper I totally love....My initial thought process was to keep it really minimalist, so that the photo wouldn't be lost....When I dug into my "girly" embellishments, I got carried away and added a whole lot more than I had planned....I am happy with the result though and wouldn't change a thing :D:D:D

Wedding Photos

Hello....

We all love a wedding.  In March, we attend a family wedding in Blythedale, Natal, South Africa.  It was a really beautiful beach wedding.

This is a picture of my sister-in-law, who was a bridesmaid.  She just looked so lovely in this photo....(she always looks lovely).  She is one of those girls who is not only beautiful on the outside, but is beautiful on the inside too....

I used neutral colors for this page and kept it quite minimal...adding my favorite embellishment...an owl :D

Falling in Love with Paper Inklings

Hello lovely scrapping friends....

Every now and then we all have a little romance with a specific supplier of scrapping goodies....I have just been introduced to Paper Inklings through a new scrapping friend....It is an Australia made and produced product and OMG, it is totally stunning....Now the snag is that I don't know if these amazing papers, chipboards and Rub Ons are available here in Dubai, but I am positive that if you hop onto their site here and send them a mail asking where it can be obtained in your area, they will be able to help.  I am sure their products are also available online for delivery internationally.

I have placed a massive order through a friend who has a direct line to the stash in Australia, and with some luck, I will have a large range of the products to work with and showcase.  They have some amazing paper, chipboard and rub-ons specifically for tween boys (I have a tween boy and battle with paper - too old for car paper and too young for grungy paper)  I was lucky enough to be gifted some of their paper and rub-ons, so here is a layout made with just a teeny party of their hugely amazing range of products.....

So, if you are looking for some amazing new stash and haven't seen Paper Inkling products around, please visit their site and see if you can get your hands on their stash!!!!

This is officially the weirdest thing I have stuck on a layout

Hello lovely friends....

I have been milling over the idea of doing a Makeup Artist course for ages now, and a little while ago I decided to jump in with both feet, and enrolled into an online course.  I was expecting for it to be a bit of a cake walk, but 5 video lectures out of 67 in, I realized this was not for sissies!!!  I have diligently gone through all the course material and am not revisiting the text books in preparation for my exam at the end of the month.  Along with the exam, I have to submit 10 looks, 5 Bridal and 5 Celebrity, which I have completed as per their specifications.

Being school holidays, I thought it was a great opportunity for me to crack on with the practicals as no one is really available for a great length of time after school, what with being busy with their families.  I was super lucky to get 3 volunteers who allowed me to make-up and wipe off their faces excessively. Al1 10 looks took 12 hours to do, over 2 days.

Today I decided it was time to dig out the scrapping supplies and capture this marathon event, and get a little scrap therapy in as a bonus....

Here is the result.  A single page layout with 17 photographs!!!  Those of you who know me, know that I am a single-page junkie and DO NOT like multiple photographs on a page, and at a push I will put maximum 3 on a layout....if I can't get away with just one....So this was a huge step for me :D:D:D

The photos are of one "eyes open" and one "eyes closed", which are the requirements for the practical exam submission....Thanks to my 2 gorgeous nieces and my special friend who modeled for me :D:D

On the bottom right hand side of the page, I added smidgeons of ribbon and lace over several strips of washi tape as an accent.  I printed out some small blank face charts to tie in with the theme of the photos.

And here is where the title of this post comes from....I added some mascara wants, Q-tips and a pair of strip eyelashes to the bottom left side of the page....officially the weirdest thing I have stuck to a scrapbook page.....

Spring school holidays are half way through, thereafter just over 2 months of school then the year is over....How time has flown....I will not be returning to my post as a LSA at school next year so my plan is to get back into scrapping, hopefully rejoin my Tuesday Therapy Group {if they will have me back :)} and enjoy the life of a SAHM (Stay At Home Mom) again....

Nearly 6 months already

Hello :D

I cannot believe it's been nearly 6 months since my last post...I suck, really I do....

I have a valid reason for my absence....I was offered a job at the school my kids go to, to be an LSA for a child with behavior problems.  After 10 days to think about it, I decided to take on the challenge.

Thinking that having a job, which was only for school hours, I would have the luxury of having the best of both worlds!!!!  Boy was I wrong!!!  I end up with very little time to myself at the end of the day, and sadly my scrapping has taken a major back seat.  I visit my craft room often and get a little sad when I see my unused supplies and tools all sitting there, waiting to be loved again....

I have a goal to at least scrap one page a week, even if I get to spend only 20  min a day in my "happy place" at the end of the corridor :D

I did go on a scrapping binge during a recent school break, and worked feverishly to get some of my Summer Travel Album done...I am not yet finished with it, and it's been 8 months since we were in London and Paris (hanging head in shame).

I also managed a little sneaky time and caught up with my old scrap group last month.  It was nice to be back with the girls.  I really do miss you all so very much!!!!

I have 2 pages which I would like to share with you....The first is "Growing Up In The Gulf".  It was taken when we visited Global Village which is an annual theme park here in Dubai.  It is exactly as it's name suggests, a Global Village, where you can visit all parts of the world by means of halls set up with items from whichever country you are visiting at the time....

The next picture is once again of my favorite subject....my beautiful children.  This is the page I did during my sneaky visit with the girls from TUESDAY THERAPY, at Creative Hands.  The title pretty much says it all.....Adore....and I do, they are my world.....
